I’m Michael, a copywriter.
Technically.
- I used to be embarrassingly dirt-cheap, doing work for ~$3-$5/hour
- All my old work is BS, but it got good reviews cause it was so dang cheap
That says about everything. I used to be a buzzword psychopath.
- I thought “sales copy” was just a sandwich of buzzwords, stupid jokes, and sections that over-complicated the simplicity of an offer.
- Since I was so cheap, my clients didn’t care; they were elated that they could find half-decent BS for 3x less than the minimum wage.
- I had SUPER embarrassing projects; a diet expert offered me $450 to write THREE 30-ish page ebooks in the span of 30 days. I ended up canceling the order minutes before the due date.
This blog will be an attempt to redeem myself.
- 1 post/day
- Holds me accountable
- Forces me to understand my pitfalls better
I intend to slowly become better/faster at copywriting while I build a portfolio and find more clients.
The topics I’ll cover aren’t topics I’m experienced in; I’ll learn as I go:
- How to conduct proper research for copy
- How to write sales letters faster
- Adding to my swipe file (finding/analyzing ads faster)
- Reading copywriting/advertising books
- Etc
Hopefully, this works out the way I intend it to.
